Karen and Scott's Alloa Wedding
Karen and Scott's was the second wedding of our two-days-in-a-row May madness and it was so beautiful and so much fun that although come Sunday we were absolute zombies we were completely overwhelmed by how full of love and humour the last couple of days had been. (We're still not doing it again though!)
Karen and Scott got married at Gean House in Alloa, a venue completely hidden away in the middle of the suburbs. In a grand country home, surrounded by beautiful wooded gardens they exchanged vows in a humanist ceremony before celebrating with friends and family outside in the sunshine.
Inside the garden room was bursting with the scent of peonies which decorated every surface in blue mason jars and antique teacups and filled the air with the smell of summer. Karen and her mum arranged all of the flowers themselves as well as sewing bunting and little hearts which decorated the windowsills and hung from the ceilings. The favours were homemade jam in tiny jars topped with the same fabric as the hearts and bunting and the menus and name settings were decorated with a beautiful cerise peony stamp.
After dinner everyone moved through to the main gallery which housed not one but two cakes, one mountain of cheese topped with two adorable felt mice and one exquisite three tier cake made by Karen's mum and decorated with pearls, ribbon, brooches and a teacup of peonies on top. Through the unseasonable heat guests both Canadian and Scottish danced to the sounds of the ceilidh band, whirling and twirling deep into the evening.
